Top 5 Hip-Hop Albums of The 2000's

So I made this thread on the SC forums right? And I'm guessing you could pretty much tell what the thread was about based on the title of this post. It could be found right HERE. It took me a while to post my own response into this thread since I actually had a couple of favorite albums from the past decade. I was eventually able to narrow it down to the 5 hip-hop albums that I'll be breaking down in this entry. Remember that these are the top 5 hip-hop albums of the 2000's IN MY EYES. Photobucket Everyone else's opinion is welcome of course. So be sure to post in the thread or drop off a comment on this entry. Leave your THOUGHTS/COMMENTS on the link below the date and title post. Without further ado, (Laughing) here are my top 5 hip-hop albums of the past decade (In no particular order):

The Blueprint by Jay-Z

What other praise can I give The Blueprint that hasn't been stated already. Photobucket The album was just 13 tracks of straight CRACK (15 if you count the hidden tracks after The Blueprint). Slick lyricism, soulful production, along with the rumor that it only took Jay 2 DAYS to complete this masterpiece. What more can you ask of the man? If you haven't heard anything about this album, then your ass must've been living under a rock. If you don't like this piffery, then I ask you to please stand and GTFO. Glasses

Top 3 Favorite Tracks: Song Cry, Renegade, & Heart Of The City(Ain't No Love)

Stillmatic by Nas

2 words. NAS DELIVERS. The man is a walking rhyme book. I applaud Mr. Jones not only for the lyrics, delivery, and rawness that he is always present with in the album but for the way he handled himself and his problems during the making of this album. We gotta remember this was around the time his baby moms left him, Jay was gettin' at him(not to mention fuckin' his baby mama), and disloyalty was around his circle. Nas is definitely one dude many niggas can look up to. This also marked Nas comin' back to the "Revolutionary Nas". Rappin' about socioeconomic issues and philosophical themes. To me personally, this album was only the tiniest hairline short from what Illmatic was to my eyes. Smokin'

Top 3 Favorite Tracks: One Mic, Rule, & 2nd Childhood

Food & Liquor by Lupe Fiasco

I don't care what anyone says. Lupe Fiasco was THE DOPEST new artist to have come out of the 2000's. His mixtapes were the first to catch my attention(May I add that he's my favorite mixtape artist of the decade as well). Then he drops 2 monumental albums in the past decade. What I liked about him was that he wasn't filed under that typical coke/gangsta rap genre yet he shined in rapping about almost every single aspect of life. Mix that in with flawless story telling and the CRAZIEST/CLEVER wordplay of any artist I've listened to, then you got yourself one HELLUVA debut album. The dude brought skateboarding and nerdy coolness to even the most ghetto of 'hoods. Let's see someone else do that. (Lu!!! We need more of you're crack mixtapes!) Eeek!

Top 3 Favorite Tracks: He Say She Say, The Cool, Hurt Me Soul

The College Dropout by Kanye West

Mr. Personality himself. Laughing You are the MAN! A great producer, witty rapper, and the trendsetter of the decade. Ye' dropped a classic debut. Again it's not the same gangsta rap you normally listened to back then, but it was dooooooopppppeeeee nonetheless. From his witty lyrics, his insane production, and not to mention GREAT choice of featuring artists, the dude always had my ear through every listen from the album. It even gave me the chuckles. Rollin' Ye' I enjoyed 808s & Heartbreak very much, but you need to drop another College Dropout'esque album. This album was a classic in my eyes. Photobucket

Top 3 Favorite Tracks: All Falls Down, Through The Wire, & Get 'Em High

The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem

I classify Em in 2 different lights. The dark, introspective Eminem. And the crazy, clowning Em. I find crazy Em hilarious and all, but gimme Dark Em's material on an album. I've never heard a dude flow so smoothly on any beat like this guy. We need this type of shit back. Unlimited bluntness, epic flow, mixed in with a little bit of craziness. Mr. Mathers was able to bring out that little insanity we had within us. C-L-A-S-S-I-C. Eeek!

Top 3 Favorite Tracks: Stan, The Way I Am, & Criminal
